From Incarceration to Advocacy: A Journey of Resilience

Every morning, I awaken to the shock of my incarceration. It feels like a multifaceted form of PTSD—a recurring nightmare movie. To think that I’m accused of murder when it was a tragic accident. The label of felon smudges the Somerville name.

The court, seemingly indifferent, overlooks my contributions to this community and California. How many lives did my company save by fixing gas-fired appliances in mobile food vehicles? The San Francisco fire marshal ignored facts that contradicted the verdict. Do I truly have the capacity to cause grief and despair?

As I grapple with the loss of everything—sentimental items, family ashes, photos, even clothes—I recognize my relative fortune compared to those victimized by war, food insecurity, ethnic cleansing, and political unrest. Amidst this turmoil, I wonder: When will humanity realize the need for a symbiotic relationship with our planet? Technology alone won’t fix our broken connection.

Hurricane Katrina served as a stark warning. Infrastructure can crumble swiftly, even in our tech-savvy world. Blurred focus surrounds us.

Advocacy becomes my purpose. I write to unveil the truth, to amplify voices silenced by a biased legal system. Justice and equality no longer steer the ship. My legacy, as a visionary, lies in creating globally impactful products.
